The new Axis of Evil – Spanos, Telesco, McCoy

Awhile back I named Spanos, AJ, Turner as the Axis of Evil. They couldn’t do anything right with the Chargers. Spanos hired a GM which in turn hired a terrible head coach. Everyone knows what happened after that. Wait let me refresh your memory – they fire Marty Schottenheimer after a 14- 2. AJ Smith let Drew Brees go without any compensation. Oh yah, Smith was a real genius!!!
Well let’s fast forward to today. What we see is that history has repeated itself. Again we have Spanos hiring an unproven GM who hires a poorly paid and unproven yes man as head coach. I know Telesco had worked for the Colts in management from 1998 –2013. Yes, during that span the Colts were extremely successful. Wait, wasn’t Peyton Manning their QB during that time. Heck, I could have been in Colts management during that time and done nothing and been considered just as successful. Telesco’s tenure as the Charger GM has been a dismal failure. The Chargers have the least amount of players drafted in the first 3 rounds during his tenure as starters. Okay, I hear you about Bosa. Bosa is a STUD!!! If the Chargers had signed him before the start of spring training the Chargers probably would have made the playoffs this year. Unfortunately, the Chargers reverted back to their old cheap ways. And for everyone that’s tells me about how smart Telesco was to draft Bosa I tell them sooner or later the law of averages comes into play. Oh, how about the Charger rookie punter – Kaser. Let’s see he has mishandled a critical 4th qtr field goal, and shanked 2 punts that contributed to Chargers losses. Wait, that’s Mike McCoy’s fault not Telesco’s. You probably right. I understand mistakes happen but after miss handling the field goal attempt and shanking 1 punt Kaser should have been fired. Not McCoy thinking- let’s give him another try. Honorable but not football smart. Oh, if McCoy’s life depended on it he still wouldn’t know when to use a timeout in the last 3 minutes of a game. The early 4th qtr collapses are partly the result of poor coaching.
The one constant between the old vs the new Axis of Evil is Spanos. Spanos has consistently made poor choices in GM and coaches. The Spaons track record shows they have limited football instinct and knowledge. Any respected coach will not work for them unless they pay an insane amount of money. NFL proven players don’t want to play here because they know the Spanos will treat them like a disposal piece of property- just look at how Shawne Merriman & Rodney Harrison were told they were no longer wanted here- by a phone call – zero class on the Spanos’ part.
I have to stop this rant because my blood is boiling and if I keep going someone will need to call “911” for a medical emergency.
